Job Description:
The Oracle / SQL Database Administrator will be responsible for Bank's Database management system and Coordinate changes to computer databases, test and implement the database applying knowledge of database management systems. He/she may plan, coordinate, and implement security measures to safeguard computer databases. He or she will also advise and collaborate with various departments or units on back up plans, business continuity etc. The Database Administrator will be responsible for database management and the coordination of database security efforts, and also handle upgrades, monitor performance of databases across the bank and will be responsible for 24/7 database availability and support. Duties and Responsibilities: · Develop data model describing data elements and how they are used, following procedures and using, templates or software. · Develop standard and guidelines to guide the use and acquisition of software and to protect vulnerable information. · Modify existing databases and database management systems or direct programmers and analysts to make changes. · Plan, coordinate and implement security measures to safeguard information in computer files against accidental or unauthorized damage, modification or disclosure. · Review procedures in database management system manuals for making changes to database. · Manage, review project requests describing database user needs to estimate time and cost required to accomplish project. · Handle & Review workflow charts developed by programmer analyst to understand tasks system will perform, such as updating records. · Select and enter codes to monitor database performance and to create production database. · Specify users and user access levels for each segment of database. · Test programs or databases, correct errors and make necessary modifications. · Write and code logical and physical database descriptions and specify identifiers of database to management system or direct others in coding descriptions. · Manage, schedule, plan, and handle the installation and testing of new products and improvements to systems, such as the installation of new databases. · Develop methods for integrating different products so they work properly together, such as customizing commercial databases to fit specific needs. · Identify and evaluate industry trends in database systems to serve as a source of information and advice for upper management. · Train users and answer questions. · Work as part of a project team to coordinate database development and determine project scope and limitations. · Consult with Internal Departments & Branches on Database management. · Ensure database backups are taken regularly as per the backup policy. · Database to be restored from backup media (tapes) to confirm backups are and media are working fine. · Other duties may be assigned. Education: Bachelor's or Masters Degree in computers or information Systems Professional / Technical Qualifications / Diplomas: · Oracle / SQL Database Certifications. · Oracle Database management Certifications. · Microsoft Certifications. Experience: 5 - 7 years experience in Oracle & SQL related industry. Specialist Skills Required for the Job: · Excellent database management & system analysis skills. · Analytical ability and out of box (innovative) thinking. · Excellent communication skills. (Should be able to communicate with non IT users as well). · Flexibility in handling tasks (multi tasking). · Well organized and should be aware of project management methodology. · Software Development Life Cycle experience.
