Heading for Peking, duck? 50ft rubber inflatable arrives at Hong Kong harbour as it continues its world tour

This enormous rubber duck is far more than a bathtime buddy.

Dubbed Spreading Joy Around The World, it was designed by Dutch artist Florentijn Hofman to 'put a smile' on people's faces.

The 54ft-high inflatable made its first appearance today in Hong Kong, where it will be spending a month floating around the city's Victoria Harbour.

It has already visited famous waters around the world, including the cities of Sydney, Osaka and Auckland. Its next location is a well-kept secret, but it is believed to be an undisclosed city in the United States.

The duck is deflated for transportation and then reinflated on location using a generator.

Mr Hofman said he wanted to bring joy with his giant duck, which he claimed help reconnect people with their forgotten childhoods.

'My sculptures cause an uproar, astonishment and put a smile on your face,' he said.

'They give people a break from their daily routines. Passers-by stop in front of them and enter into conversation with other spectators. People are making contact with each other again.'

In a statement on his website, he said: 'The Rubber Duck knows no frontiers, it doesn't discriminate people and doesn't have a political connotation.

'The friendly, floating Rubber Duck has healing properties: it can relieve mondial tensions as well as define them. The rubber duck is soft, friendly and suitable for all ages!'

The artist's other works include Fat Monkey - a giant monkey made from 10,000 brightly-coloured flip-flops - and a giant cuddly toy rabbit called Big Yellow Rabbit.

PRESS RELEASE
Meeting of the India – Saudi Arabia Joint Group to discuss labour issues – May 1, 2013

All Indian workers who have travelled to Saudi Arabia legally will be allowed to regularize their visa status, get new jobs or to return to India if they chose to register voluntarily with the Saudi authorities during the three months
grace period announced by His Majesty the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques. This was among the issues discussed at the Joint Group meeting held today (May 1, 2013) at the Saudi Ministry of Labour. Deputy Minister for
Labour Affairs Ahmad S. Al Humaidan, Deputy Minister for International Affairs Dr. Ahmed F. Al Fahaid and Deputy Minister for Labour Relations Ziyad I Alsaigh received the team led by Shri Sibi George, Minister/Deputy
Chief of Mission.

The Joint Group will continue their discussions next week. The Joint Group was set up during the discussions between H.E. Mr. Adel Fakeih, Minister of Labour of Saudi Arabia and Indian delegation led by Minister for
Overseas Indian Affairs Shri Vayalar Ravi in Jeddah on April 28. The Joint Group is mandated to discuss all issues pertaining to the welfare of the Indian community in Saudi Arabia including immediate issues pertaining to
implementation of Nitaqat programme and overstaying Indian workers. The Joint Group also discussed re-employment of those overstaying Indian workers in Saudi Arabia by availing the facilities offered by the Ministry of  Labour including services of the newly set up mega-recruiting companies.

The Embassy urges all Indians affected by the Nitaqat programme and those overstaying in Saudi Arabia to register their names at the Ministry of Labour website www.redyellow.com.sa. This site is being visited regularly by
various Saudi companies to look for Indian workers.

The Ministry of Labour will be issuing shortly a series of measures aimed at helping the expatriate workers to regularize their stay in Saudi Arabia or to return to their countries. Those workers volunteering to utilize the three
months grace period and have no legal issues pending against them will not be blacklisted and would be allowed to return to Saudi Arabia with appropriate visas. They also need not go through deportation centers.

The Ministry of
Labour informed that those who have legal cases against them would need to settle such cases before their return to India. However, those who have legal cases against them could also change their jobs to new employers if they
register voluntarily with the Ministry of Labour. The details are currently being worked out. 2

The Ministry of Labour clarified that in Saudi Arabia it is illegal for any employer/companies to keep the passports or Iqamas of their employees. As per Saudi laws, it is the right of the employees to keep their passports and
Iqamas. The Embassy has clarified to the Ministry of Labour that in case of workers who face difficulties to change their sponsorship due to nonavailability of passports they would be issued new passports on a priority
basis.

The Embassy of India urges all those affected by Nitaqat programme and those overstaying Indian workers to utilize the three months grace period announced by the Saudi authorities to regularize their status or to leave the
country.

The Embassy has also been collecting Emergency Certificate (EC) applications from those Indians currently overstaying in Saudi Arabia so that their cases can be taken up with the Saudi authorities within the framework of
applicable Saudi laws.

The Embassy urges all Indian nationals who are unable to leave Saudi Arabia due to non availability of Indian or Saudi documents to register with the Embassy within a month. The collection
centers set up at the Indian Schools namely IIS Riyadh, IIPS Riyadh, IIS Dammam, IIS Jeddah, IIS Jubail, IIS Buraidah, IIS Al-Khafji, IIS Taif, IIS Majmah and IIS Tabuk could be used for submission of EC applications.

These could also be sent by Post/Courier alongwith copy of the passport, resident permit and any other document to establish the Indian nationality to EC Section, Embassy of India, B-1 Diplomatic Quarter, PO Box 94387, Riyadh
- 11693, Saudi Arabia.

The Embassy seeks the support of volunteers from the community, not necessarily social workers, to come forward to assist those affected by Nitaqat programme and all overstaying Indian workers. Indian professionals, teachers
of Indian schools and others are urged to join the current campaign by the Embassy. Those ready to do voluntary services in any part of the country may send in their names, address, passport number and contact details to the
Embassy by May 5, 2013. They may register through emails to wel.riyadh@mea.gov.in, with a copy to dcm.riyadh@mea.gov.in and hoc.riyadh@mea.gov.in. The Embassy would contact those volunteers and
advise them on the next step in the process.

A meeting of the social workers and volunteers will be held at 11 AM tomorrow (May 2, 2013) at the Embassy of India premises in the Diplomatic Quarter to brief the outcome of the first meeting of the Joint Group and to get further inputs from Indian community in Saudi Arabia. All are welcome to attend.

Most of us like to go somewhere warm for our holidays – but balancing on the brink of an erupting volcano could result in far more than mere sunburn. This incredible picture shows the moment when one tourist edged towards a torrent of spewing lava, risking life and limb for a holiday snap. Unfazed, with his back to the bubbling crater, the man smiles easily, as if he was standing next to an ornamental fountain.

Photographer Denis Budkov caught the incident at the Plosky Tolbachik volcano in the far east of Russia.

Alexander J. Honnold (born August 17, 1985) is an American rock climber best known for his free solo ascents of big walls . He has broken a number of speed records, most notably the only known solo climb (mostly free climbing, but using some points of aid) of the Yosemite Triple Crown, an 18 hour 50 minute link up of Mt. Watkins, The Nose, and the Regular Northwest Face of Half Dome.

Located in Veracruz, the Metlac bridge rises 400 feet from the ground—making it Mexico's tallest bridge—and spans 300 feet. Risk taking local graffiti artists have thrown caution to the wind and taken to traversing the bridge's edges to get up. Impressive locations for sure, but is the danger worth it?

Good idea to fix the car, even better idea to get killed.

That's one big splash. Daredevil Garret McNamara of Hawaii claims to have ridden the highest wave ever caught by a surfer, a 30-metre monster off the coast of Nazaré, Portugal. His record is still to be confirmed, but if it's verified, McNamara will have smashed the previous record of 24 metres, which he set in the same spot in November 2011.

Indonesian students have to tightrope walk 30 feet above a flowing river to get to their class on time.

Here's a pro tip: if you ever find yourself with a strong desire to photograph crocodiles in their natural habitat, don't do it like the photographer in the video above (warning: it contains a bit of strong language).

It was shot by a man named David Clow on March 18, 2013 in Rio Tarcoles, Costa Rica. Clow's friend Antonio Ruiz was photographing crocodiles up close with his DSLR while others tossed chunks of meat into the water. The problem was that Ruiz positioned himself right on the edge of the river rather than at the relatively safe distance where everyone else was standing.

The location is named "Crocodile Bridge," so the water was teeming with crocs. After snapping some photographs of the creatures battling over the free food, Ruiz had an experience he will probably never forget. He just narrowly avoided a lunge by a hungry crocodile, coming inches from becoming its next meal.

If you have a fear of heights, just turn off your monitor now. The Ukrainian daredevil, Mustang Wanted, has a few photos from his fearless life to share. Check out this shot of him hanging from a building with one hand.

Mike Rutzen is an expert on the great white shark and an outspoken champion of shark conservation. His fame spread due to the images of his free diving exploits swimming with the animals without a cage. Mike has spent more time swimming cage-less with great whites than anyone else. He has since traveled the world lecturing on sharks and filming documentaries.

Students at this school in China have a harder time than most skipping class. Pupils in Pili - in the rugged northern Xinjiang Uygur region - have to cross a pass 1,500 ft. above a sheer drop down a precipice to get to their lessons. Guided by parents and staff, the youngsters scramble over the sloping rock face finding foot and handholds that would make even a goat think twice.

Green Potatoes are very dangerous for health, Strictly Avoid This!

Potatoes are uses as a primary ingredient in many dishes. Do you know about green potatoes? These green potatoes are green due to high amount of chlorophyll .But food lovers, that green potatoes are very dangerous for health.
The scientific researches are say that green potatoes have high amount of a poisonous chemical called solanine that can lead to nausea, headaches diarrhea, vomiting many other ailments, if it is consumed by fault.
The green colour of a potato is mainly due to high amount of chlorophyll, which is basically not harmful for health. But in fact it is a signal that the amount of solanine, which is generated at that time when the chlorophyll is also produced, has raised too.
A current report is presented by Alexander Pavlista, who is a professor at the University of Nebraska-Lincon. In the report it was told that — a 100 pound man would have to consume nearly 16 ounces of a totally green potato to fell ill.
It was noticed that the green potatoes were never send to the market for sale. And to prevent the production of solanine, it is always suggested that potatoes should be stored in cool and dim light places, remove the green areas before its consumption.

If the taste of the green potato — is found to be bitter, than don't consume it. This green diet would prove to be harmful so just avoid it.
